Greetings from ms Zaandam. I finally got internet yesterday evening Oct 12. Managed to lose what I wrote for the last few days, so will start over.
Dinner on the 10th was lovely. Five of us at a big round table with a distant view of the water outside. A sweet couple from Phoenix and another nice couple from Mexico City, FL. She shipped ten bags, dresses very smart. He is quiet. Our Dining Stewards are Yoga & Suda. My dinner was the Caesar Salad, Salmon plate, Brazo de Mercedes, water, and decaffeinated coffee.
Found my favorite seat in the World Stage theater to watch “Origin Story” a history of Holland America Line, partly narrated by Cruise & Port Director Jeremy Hales from Tasmania. Felt the ship’s engines start about 7:30pm.
Afterwards I walked out on the Lower Promenade deck and found darkness with a few lights in the distance.
Back in my room tried to send out the Oct 10 email, no luck.
Since there were about 4000 pieces of luggage to bring aboard (in addition to all of the supplies), my two checked bags did not arrive in my room til 4:30. I started unpacking at 9:30pm.
Captain Smit announced at 8:30 that we were returning to Ft Lauderdale to offload a patient with a medical emergency. I heard that the man’s left leg was paralyzed from the waist down. We were back out in the open sea before 11pm and on our way to Africa.
